Bobby Gilboy

Bobby has been an integral part of the local fitness industry for the past 25 years, having served as the General Manager of both Franco’s Athletic Club and Pelican Athletic Club. While serving in the GM capacity at PAC, the West St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce honored Bobby with the “Business Person of the Year” award in 2000. In 2003 he founded “Gilboys Health Club (Now BFF). Bobby is both A.C.E. certified personal trainer and a Functional Training Specialist with the American Council on exercise. He also teaches 2 group fitness circuit training classes a week. Bobby can be reached for Personal Training at (985) 966-1378.

Brandy Manguno

Brandy is a certified yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance and has  earned her ERYT-  She has practiced Yoga since a teenager and is studying still to this day.  A veteran in the United States Marine Corps, she enjoys a good challenge within a practice.  Finding restoration, rejuvenation of the body & the breath, “key” in maintaining flexibility, mental clarity, and skeletal structural health.        Brandy’s approach to the classroom setting is one of equality, compassion, and respect. Thus giving the individual the freedom to experience all yoga can offer at their own body’s pace. Brandy is happily married, mother to two wonderful girls, and loves her puppies. She spends her private time gardening, reading, cooking, and of course, Yoga studies in Ayurveda and Herbology. “Don’t take LIFE so seriously, You will NEVER get out of it ALIVE.  Live, Laugh, Feel everything” 

Joseph Bessette

Joseph is a Yoga Alliance-registered experienced yoga instructor. He has an RYT 500-hour certification and is also a registered ERYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) having taught for many years. Trained in the Krishnamacharya tradition at Yoga School of Covington he can offer classes suited to students with different levels of experience and different needs. His classes stress mindfulness and breath awareness and are designed to apply the ancient wisdom of yoga to todayʼs world.

Gavin Guidry

Years of experience with a focus on strength, speed, agility, flexibility, mobility, and weight management. Gavin offers a unique blend of functional training and sports performance to teach and inspire a fundamental foundation for everyday life. Shirley Samson

Shirley Samson, RYT-200, received her registered yoga teacher certification in 2013 from The Yoga School of Covington, under the direction of Becky Gelatt and is registered through Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

Shirley began her teaching career of yoga in May 2013. Her goal as a yoga teacher is to create a safe, warm, and encouraging atmosphere for students to explore and expand within their own body and consciousness. She works with adults at slow-paced vinyasa practice, focusing on the mind-body connection with the breath. Always emphasizing the practice of honoring the body’s current state through ahimsa (non-violence), students are guided by Shirley to explore all the possibilities yoga has to improve the health and well-being of mind, body and spirit.

Shirley and her husband Rick Samson, have called Covington home for the past 34 years. They share two wonderful adult children, Ian and Ashley Samson. When not teaching or studying yoga, Shirley enjoys working on her art work, exploring pastel, water color and acrylic painting.

Suzanne Fernandez

I have been in the fitness industry for over 30 years. I began teaching aerobics way back when Jane Fonda was wearing leg warmers. I am certified through AFAA, YMCA, NDETA, Reebok Step and Thomas the Promise Kickbox. I have a grown son & daughter and two beautiful grandchildren, Mike and Madelyn. I enjoy spending time with them and hanging out with friends and family, cooking and drinking wine.

Annique Smith

Has been teaching Group Fitness class for 24 years. She is AFAA, AAAI/ASMA and YMCA certified. She has taught a variety of class formats including, Water aerobics, High-low, Circuit, Tone-sculpt, Pre & Post Natal and Step.

Louise McCann

Mother of three and wife of Steve. She has been a fitness instructor for twenty years and at BFF for the last seven. Her specialty is yoga and pilates. She also holds a masters degree in Physical Therapy. She resides in Covington and spends her days homeschooling and managing her home.

Kendra Chong

Kendra has been teaching group exercise classes since 1996 with certifications through AFAA Group Fitness and Les Mills International-Body Pump. Her philosophy is “any form of fitness should be fun if people are going to stick with it”! Music is her biggest motivator. Kendra makes each class fun and energetic by motivating you with music while getting a great workout. Kendra has been with BFF for many years and her classes are one of our most popular. Anne Jones

Hello all, my name is Anne Jones and I am a Group Fitness Instructor and trainer.
I am thrilled to be part of Bogue Falaya Fitness! I have been teaching for about 7 years and recently moved from South Carolina where I was part of a fantastic team at the Greenville Health Systems Life Center.
My certifications are: AFAA, Schwinn cycle, Powder Blue Turbokick and PIYO, Yogafit, and Les Mills Bodyattack. I also recently completed my American College of Sports Medicine training.
I thrive on instructing and working with people. I am always eager to answer questions, offer training advise, and give new and fresh ideas.
I absolutely love what I do and would love to be a part of your fitness adventure!

Annie Young-Bridges

RYT- 200, Registered Yoga- Alliance instructor, is a professional Violinist, teacher, and yoga instructor in the GNO Area.  She has been a student of Hatha Yoga since 1976 and a teacher since 2006, beginning with post-Katrina high school students on the Gulf Coast.

Annie teaches yoga throughout the Northshore Area and has for over a year now.  Recently presented “Therapeutic Yoga for Violinists and Violists” at the American Strings Teachers Association Conference in Salt Lake City, UT.Annie is a music teacher for STP Public School System and lives in Covington with her husband, Jeff.   They have six rescue dogs and three children.

Heather Newman

Heather Newman is our Group Fitness Coordinator, Membership Sales & Marketing Director and BFF’s Booty Bar (Barre) Instructor.  She was born and raised in Kenner, LA. Active in dance all her life, exercising and training is second nature to Heather. She began dancing at the age of four and was selected to be President of her dance team both middle and high school, won top competition awards in dance at LSU and other competitions of the top travelling dance team competitions in the state. She attended Southeastern Louisiana University where she was on the Lionette Dance Team and a member of Tri-Sigma Sorority.  Transferred to UNO where she danced with the Tulane Dance Team and received a degree in Business with a minor in Marketing. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, Heather became certified by AFAA for group fitness in New Orleans where she taught a variety of aerobics classes and managed front desk/membership at local fitness clubs for 6 years.  Heather has earned specialized certifications in Barre, Pilates, Yoga & Life Coaching with AFAA.  She is an active AFAA certified group fitness instructor and has been for many years. Heather has always been passionate about dance, and exercise and is very excited to be a part of our BFF team.

Julie Combel Steinhauer

Julie is a certified Pilates Instructor certified with AFAA and a past instructor from Gilboys!!  Julie has been a Pilates instructor for 8 years.  Her focus is on teaching strength building, balance, and flexibility. All muscle groups are used in every class by incorporating: squats, push-ups, various forms of sit-ups/core strengthening, and she even throws in a few yoga poses.

Pat Wren

Pat is one of our advanced Yoga Instructors at BFF! Pat received her certification from The Yoga School in 2009. She is a long time Yogi prior to her certification.
She is experienced in Integral Yoga, she is also a Tai Chi certified instructor, and a retired Nurse Practitioner.
Pat is experienced in Martial Arts and has a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo. She also practices Japanese Martial Arts “Aikido”…..If you have not had a chance to meet Pat yet – come try one of her YOGA CLASSES – She teaches Yoga every Monday at 6pm in the Mind & Body studio upstairs at BFF.
She is the kindest, sweetest person and she’s ready to teach you some new Yoga moves…..

Dr Mike Haas

Dr. Mike in a Yoga instructor and Physician. He has always been interested in health prevention and healthy lifestyles. He is now on the Covington Mayors Council for Healthy Lifestyles. He is also in the process of writing a healthy lifestyles book the focus of which is how to properly take care of your body so it will take care of you in our fast paced busy world.

He also owns Physicians Laser Institute (a laser school training)  located right here at BFF.  Providing specific laser treatments: Rosacea, Tatoo Removal, Hair Removal, Chemical Peels, Non-Ablative Fractional, and Foto Facial at a much lower rate than the industry norms.
