Melissa LeBlanc - Yoga
Angela Gainey - Yoga
Angela began her yoga journey in September 2016 at Bogue Falaya Fitness.
She found a tribe, an inspiring sangha (community) of yogis, in her local Northshore community of Louisiana. This transition paved a path of Svadhyaya (self-study), emerging through a regular asana practice led by mentors who have a deep understanding and love for Hatha and Vinyasa styles of yoga – approaching each practice as an inquiry to honor the individual needs of your body. In 2017, Angela participated in a teacher training program that complemented her yoga practice, helped plant the seed that peaked an interest in becoming a certified yoga instructor and allowed her to continue her yoga path with a quality driven intention to move mindfully both on and off the mat. Angela completed Annie Carpenter’s 200hr SmartFLOW yoga teacher training under the guidance of master teachers, Britni Serou, E-RYT 500, YACEP and Janet Katz, E-RYT 500, YACEP.
Angela is a Baltimore, Maryland native and holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice, Sociology, & Anthropology. Former financial investigative analyst for 14 years in the private sector.
Continuing yoga education includes somatic healing/neurobiology of trauma, teaching from the heart, and anatomy driven studies. Angela currently serves the community teaching gentle Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative as well as leading workshops/privates that are geared towards a specific movement principle within the body.
Charlotte Mabry - Restorative Yoga
The blessing of yoga found me at 50! I was a professor of dental public health at the LSU School of Dentistry for 27 years; retired, and began my yoga practice. Since then, I have committed to a life long journey of continual learning and practicing the tools of yoga that help me travel within my truest heart, “authentic self”. In the Bhakti spirit, the yoga of devotion, love, participation and relationship, it is my intention to share the teaching, “that you are perfect just as you are right now”.
After living such a hectic, fast paced life as an academic, researching, writing, lecturing and traveling I wanted to STOP. Yoga helped me peel away many layers to become more of my real self. I found out that it was OK, I had the permission to deeply rest. Through the practice of restorative yoga; feeling the effects upon my body, mind and spirit, I received the call to teach.
Lindsay Mitten - Yoga
I came to yoga over 10 years ago when I injured my shoulders. Yoga taught me how to strengthen and heal my body using only my body weight holding poses that challenged my body into recovery. The beauty of yoga is there is a modification or deepening factor for each pose. Your practice can be custom tailored to your needs. No yoga pose looks the same in each and every body which practices.
Fast forward – I discover this practice of Power Yoga, which is a form of Ashtunga and Baptiste. With my background knowing the poses – I find myself entering moving meditations as I transition through salutations and sequences. It’s the first time I not only got into my body – but I got out of my head!! Yoga took on this entirely new meaning for me. If I was stressed, high anxiety, depressed – I began coming to the mat. Yoga began to not only strengthen and keep my flexible – but also to calm the mind and relieve me emotionally. It’s truly life changing.
